Cult Groups’ Alleged Supremacy Battle Claims Four in Ogun

No fewer than four people have lost their lives in a deadly attack by suspected cultists who invaded the Ijagba Sagamu area of Ogun State in the late hours of Sunday, in a clash believed to be cultism-related.

Eyewitnesses noted that the group shot two people when they invaded Ijagba Street beside a mosque of the community on Sunday.

The two people killed were later identified by the state police as Olasunkanmi Ajayi and a yet-to-be-identified woman, both of whom were said to have been shot in the head.

According to PUNCH Metro, an eyewitness anonymously claimed the son of the deceased woman who was shot in the head prevented the police from removing the body of the deceased victim to the hospital.

A source in the state police command told our correspondent that empty cartridges were recovered from the crime scene.

Meanwhile, as the police team led by the Area Commander of Sagamu, Shehu Alao, was restoring peace in the area, another clash ensued as two alleged Aiye confraternity members shot two persons dead.

Addressing the situation, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, who confirmed the incident to our correspondent, said at least two arrests had been made and that the Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alamutu, was on the ground to assess the situation.
