ANAFEST: Awards, Chieftaincies And Fanfare As Anaocha Holds Anaocha Day/Festival.

The Special occasion which was held on Saturday, 18th of September 2021 saw the government, traditional institutions and people of Anaocha local government of Anambra State celebrating ANAOCHA DAY as well as the new-yam festival of the local government.

The occasion which was chaired by Chief Sir Cyril Bobisco Okoye (Ezeani Adazie of Adazi-Ani, who is also High Chief Akurienne of Anaocha), saw the presence of dignitaries and bigwigs from all walks of life gracing the occasion to celebrate with the people of the local government. Top government functionaries, politicians, professionals, businessmen and celebrities were graced the event.

Also, the event was used as an opportunity to conduct investiture of traditional titles to deserving indigenes of the local government as well as the presentation of merit awards to deserving sons and daughters of the local government who have been helping the people and the L.G.A in one way or the other over time.

One of the awardees is Chief Inno-Posh Chiekezie. He was honoured with an award for philanthropy in recognition of his numerous philanthropic acts within the local government. He and many more were honoured in recognition of their immeasurable contributions to the development of the area.

Also, Chieftaincy titles were bestowed on deserving individuals by the Anaocha Council of Traditional Rulers. Some of those honoured with a title include the Transition Chairman of Anaocha Local Government, Chief Patrick Estate Onyedum, he was bestowed the title of Ifeadigo of Anaocha; Fmr. Member representing Anaocha 1 Constituency in Anambra State House of Assembly, Hon. Azubike Okoye was honoured with the title of Odenigbo Anaocha, Chief Emeka Ezekwe was bestowed with the title of Ebube Agu n’ Eche Agu 1 of Anaocha; Ambassador of Nigeria to Burundi, His Excellency Amb. Elijah Onyeagba was also honoured with the title of Odezulu Igbo. Also, the son of the chairman of G.U.O Group of companies Chief Ugochukwu Okeke, Mr and Mrs Ikechukwu Okoye-Odike were amongst those given titles by the Anaocha council of traditional rulers.

The occasion saw the presence of dignitaries and notable members of the society. The members of government and entourage of the governor of Anambra state were there, the former senator that represented Anambra central in the last republic, Chief Victor Umeh was present, the Anaocha APGA chairman Hon. Chief Barr. Ndubisi Obiadi was there, Chief Charles Soludo who happens to be a former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria and currently a front line governorship hopeful under APGA in the Nov. 6 gubernatorial election of Anambra state was also there and a lot of other dignitaries and notable personalities.

The Anaocha council of traditional rulers with their “Onowus and Ichies” were also present. The occasion saw the display a lot of cultural dances and displays to entertain the public.
