U-17 WWC: Super Eagles boss, Peseiro congratulates Flamingos on third place finish

Jose Peseiro, head coach of the Super Eagles, praised the Flamingos after they finished third at the 2022 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in India.

On Sunday afternoon, the Flamingos defeated Germany 3-2 on penalties to win bronze in the biennial competition.

Bankole Olowookere’s side led 3-0 in the game but the Europeans fought back to level scores at 3-3.

Nigeria won the game on penalties, defeating Germany 3-2.

It was Nigeria’s best finish in the competition’s history.

Peseiro took to the social media to celebrate the girls on the remarkable achievement.

“Congratulations to the Flamingos, who won the bronze medal in the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup in a penalty shootout against Germany,” Peseiro tweeted.

“The future of women’s football in Nigeria is bright. Congratulations to all the players, staff and directors for this notable achievement!
