SIR CHRIS CHIKWELU JR KSP, FCED (Ichele-Agulu) is a Political Activist, Administrator, Public Policy Analyst, Researcher and Accountant

Sir Chris Obumneke Chikwelu Jr was born on the 7th September 1975 at Ndjamena Republic of Chad to Late Chief Christopher Chikwelu (Egbochueogu-Agulu) and Ezinne Pauline Chikwelu of Odidama Agulu, Anambra State.

Having passion for knowledge right from the cradle, he was eager to be in the same school with his older siblings, on getting to be enlisted in Primary one, the school authority then (Onike Primary School) refused to get him admitted on the ground that he was too young to be in primary one, when later mid into the term when he was admitted into primary one, he proved his worth and to the admonition of all, he made first position in the whole class.

He later finished at Central School Agulu where he made the best aggregate in common Entrance Examination in the whole of Anambra State.

He also attended Agulu Grammar School from 1987-1993, for his tertiary education, he attended University of Nigeria Nsukka from 1997-2002, where he graduated with a bachelors of science degree in accountancy, having passion and to the fulfillment of his father’s wish, he got enrolled for post graduate studies in the department of political science in the University of Nigeria Nsukka. He had his national youth service at Account Department of Nafada Local Government Area, Gombe State.

He was offered a mouth-watering job in the banking sector but due to his desire for social services and total emancipation of the down-trodden, he turned down the offer and joined the social services volunteers.

Sir Chris Chikwelu Jr was a foremost student activist that fought for the well-being of students, he was a core (NANS) activist (National Association of Nigeria Students) that fought along with other social right crusaders for the restoration of democracy in Nigeria 1999 without minding several hounding and threats from the military administration.

As a perfectionist he with his Ally Late Comrade Onyeka Okoye (Baba zero) set up organization called National Anti Corruption and Violence Crusaders (NAVIC)- a campus based organization which assisted many Nigeria Institutions to tame the rising cases of cultism and violence on campuses then.

Prior to return of democracy, he was among the enthusiasts at Elekahia Stadium Port Harcourt Rivers State in 1998 to embrace the unveiling and formation of PDP in Rivers State; he participated actively in the youth wing of PDP in Rivers, Anambra and Enugu States Respectively.

After the national convention of PDP in 2000, he had a retreat, as a member of Mazi Okey Nwokoye led Igbo Youth Alliance, they joined hands with Chief Chekwas Okorie’s (Oje Ozi Ndigbo) led Igboezue Cultural Association to form UPGA which metamorphosed into APGA before it got registered in June 2002.

In answering to the call of his belief that “charity begins at home” he went round the whole country and mobilized the youths of his town to become the founding National President of Agulu Youth Movement (Nig).

During his leadership as National President of AYM (Nig) he established a quarterly tabloid called “THE LIBERTY” which was used as a medium for mass mobilization, public orientation and projection of the activities in the communities and the state in general.During his tenure scholarship was given to some indigent students.

He has also served as the National Auditor of Agulu People’s Union (Nig) from 2004-2006. He also served as the National Secretary Oganiru Agulu (a socio political organization).

Sir Chris Chikwelu Jr was among the few brains that were at the centre stage who worked closely in all facets to actualize the pre, during and post activities of Governorship ambition of Chief Sir Peter Obi CON from 2002-2006.

In January 2007, he was appointed Executive Assistant to the Governor on Environment by the then Governor of Anambra State Her Excellency Dame Virgy Etiaba CON.

Heeding to the call from Anaocha indigenes for quality representation in the Anambra State House of Assembly, he resigned his appointment, contested and clinched the ticket of APGA in 2007 general election for Anaocha 1 Constituency.
He won the election based on the results collated, but a counter declaration was made at headquarters a day after, due to his ardent belief in judicial system, he proceeded to election petitions tribunal that lasted for twenty one months, the rest was history.

While in the tribunal after the election, he was re-appointed for the second time as the Executive Assistant to the Governor, a position he served dutifully till 26th January 2009 when he resigned for personal reasons and re-joined back PDP.

Sir Chris Chikwelu Jr has also served as a Legislative Aide in the National Assembly Abuja.

He served also as the State Secretary of Elders Committee of Peoples Democratic Party.

He has also coordinated a lot of Gubernatorial/Presidential elections in Anambra State.

He is widely read and has contributed a lot to National and international journals, as a public policy analyst, he has made a lot of contributions in the political, economic and fiscal policies of our great country Nigeria.

As a firm believer in where he belongs, he was the person who was nominated by Peoples Democratic Party Anambra State to defend President Goodluck Jonathan at 2011 Election Petitions Tribunal in Appeal Court Abuja, where he spent days in the dock.

Sir Chris Chikwelu Jr is a Senior Research Fellow at the Citizen Centre for Innovation, Ethics and Development.

He is also the Managing Director of Pamex Industries Limited.

As a good family man, he is happily married to his heartthrob Chief Lady Vera Chikwelu JP- (a Criminologist) with lovely children.
