Nigerian Police Arrest Eight Suspects for Abduction of Ekiti School Pupil

The Nigerian Police Force, Ekiti State Command, has successfully arrested eight individuals suspected to be involved in the abduction of school children in the Emure Local Government Area of Ekiti State. The abduction targeted pupils, a head teacher, and a driver of the Apostolic Faith School in Emure.

The incident, which occurred after school hours as the children were on their way to Eporo Ekiti on their school bus, prompted a swift response from the state police. The suspects, described as notorious kidnappers responsible for various abductions in the state, were apprehended following a credible tip-off received by the Command Rapid Response Squad (RRS).

In a statement, the state police spokesperson, Sunday Abutu, confirmed the arrest and noted that one of the suspects was killed during a gun battle with the police. The statement also mentioned that the apprehended suspects were part of a syndicate responsible for other high-profile kidnappings, including the abduction of the All Progressives Congress Chairman, Mr. Paul Omotosho, in the state in 2023.

The successful operation highlights the commitment of the Nigerian Police Force to combatting crime and ensuring the safety of citizens, particularly in cases involving the abduction of school children.
