IPOB Issues Strong Warning to Tinubu Over Nnamdi Kanu’s Continued Detention

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has issued a stark warning regarding the well-being of its leader, Nnamdi Kanu, currently held in the Department of State Services (DSS) custody in Nigeria.

Through a statement released by spokesperson Emma Powerful, IPOB has raised alarms over the alleged intentions of the Nigerian government to harm Kanu while in detention.

Expressing grave concerns, IPOB highlighted that Kanu’s health has significantly worsened, allegedly due to the administration of experimental drugs and inadequate medical practices by the DSS. The group accused the Nigerian judiciary of conspiring in what it perceives as a deliberate attempt to end Kanu’s life through prolonged and illegal detention.

Kanu, who has been in solitary confinement in Abuja for nearly three years following his contentious extradition from Kenya, has reportedly suffered from deteriorating heart and lung conditions without access to necessary medical care. Despite an Appeal Court in Abuja discharging and acquitting him, IPOB claims the Nigerian government has ignored the court’s decision, further endangering Kanu’s health.

The group’s statement carries a severe warning: should anything happen to Kanu, it would lead to significant consequences, emphasizing that his life is pivotal to the stability of Nigeria. IPOB has called on global human rights organizations, the United Nations, the European Union, the African Union, and others to intervene and prevent any harm from befalling Kanu, emphasizing their commitment to justice and Kanu’s unconditional release.
