SHOCKING: Ecuador’s Youngest Mayor And Her Staffer Found Dead, Mvrdered in Cold Blood

In an alarming incident that highlights the escalating wave of violence in Ecuador, the country’s youngest mayor, Brigitte Garcia, and her communications director, Jairo Loor, were discovered deceased in a car, both suffering from gunshot wounds.

This tragic event unfolded in the province of Manabi, marking a grim chapter in Ecuador’s ongoing struggle against crime and drug trafficking.

Brigitte Garcia, at the age of 27, had taken the helm as the mayor of San Vicente, representing the Citizen Revolution Movement party led by former President Rafael Correa. Her demise, along with her staffer, has sent shockwaves throughout the nation, with the police revealing that the shots came from within the rented vehicle they were found in. Efforts to trace the vehicle’s movements through its GPS system are underway, as the authorities seek clues in this perplexing case.

The reaction to this brutal act has been one of widespread condemnation and grief. Luisa Gonzalez, the presidential candidate from Garcia’s party, expressed her shock and sorrow over social media, lamenting the loss of safety in Ecuador. This sentiment was echoed by many, as Garcia’s death adds to a concerning trend of attacks on political figures, including the assassination of presidential candidate Fernando Villavicencio last August.

In response to the rising tide of violence, President Daniel Noboa declared a state of emergency in January, an action that underscores the gravity of the situation. The government has branded 22 criminal groups as terrorist organizations in a bid to combat the unrest that even saw an armed incursion into a TV station during a live broadcast.
