PHOTOS: Shocks as Israel Defense Forces Uncover Plots under UN Agency Headquarters

The Israel Defense Forces said it has discovered a Hamas tunnel under the headquarters of the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA). UNRWA head Philip Lazzarini said the organization knew nothing about it.

The discovery is a sequel to the unwavering effort by the IDF to annihilate Hamas alleging the compromising role of UNRWA in their humanitarian activities since the eruption of the crisis between Israel and Hamas.

A 700-meter-long tunnel with blast doors was discovered near a UNRWA school in Gaza, the IDF said in a statement. It runs under the UN agency’s headquarters at a depth of 18 meters and was used by Hamas military intelligence, the Israeli army claimed. Inside they found electrical infrastructure connected to the headquarters.

According to IDF discovery, it indicates that UNRWA supplied the tunnel with electricity.

In the headquarters itself, they found a large number of weapons, including rifles, ammunition, grenades, and explosives.
