CURRENCY REDESIGN: CBN Gives Directives On How To Deposit Current N200, N500, N1000 Notes, Reaffirms Commitment To Protecting Banking Public In Underserved Areas

The Central Bank of Nigeria CBN has issued statements, urging the Banking Public across States in the country not to panic about the proposed new legal tender notes.

In a release signed by Director, of Corporate Communication, Osita Nwanisobi, the CBN stated that the sector is putting modalities in place to ensure that the progressive increase in financial access points and alternative banking channels including electronic/Internet Banking, Mobile Apps, ATMs, Cards/PoS, eNaira, Agent banking, etc. are protected.

CBN accordingly disclosed that agents across the 36 States have been enabled for BVN registrations, opening banking accounts/Wallets, eNaira Wallets, and Electonic card distribution, among other things.

It further asked the banking public in rural or underserved areas across the 36 States of the federation to enquire about options on how to deposit the current N200, N500, and N1000 notes among other options.
