The gunmen who stormed the community in a Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) reportedly killed one Mr. Joe Mohel, a native of the town, and also abducted one Ichie Patrick Ezeanaka, a chieftain of People’s Democratic Party in Nanka, whose whereabouts are still unknown.

An eyewitness who preferred anonymity stated that Mr. Joe Mohel, a ward chairman of YPP in Nanka was shot dead following an attempt to escape from the unknown gunmen who were on a mission to adopt him alongside Ichie Ezeanaka, who surrendered to them and was whisked away.

Ichie Patrick Ezeanaka is said to be a community leader and strong PDP member in the Nanka community.

The incident has thrown the community into a state of pandemonium. Ichie Patrick Ezeanaka was reported to have survived two kidnapping attempts by gunmen until this last one.

Consequent to the ugly development, the residents of the community who are now living in fear expressed worries that the activities of the Unknown Gunmen are now becoming a daily occurrence in the community. They also alleged that kidnapping has become a daily occurrence in the Nanka community and neighboring communities.

The residents are pleading with the Anambra State Government and security agents to bring to book perpetrators of insecurity in Nanka and restore security in the community.
