WAEC Issues Urgent Notice to Principals, Candidates Amidst Nationwide NLC Strike

The West African Examination Council (WAEC) has responded to the recent announcement by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) regarding a potential nationwide strike due to disputes over the National Minimum Wage.

In a statement signed by Mrs. T.A.Y. Lawson, the Coordinator and Head of the National Office, WAEC clarified its position on the matter.

WAEC emphasized that despite the ongoing concerns and discussions between the Federal Government, the NLC, and other stakeholders, the WASSCE SC 2024 will proceed as planned across member countries.

Addressing Principals, candidates, parents, and the public, WAEC urged everyone involved to ensure that arrangements are in place for the smooth continuation of the exams.
The Council reassured that the interests of Nigerian students are a top priority and measures have been taken to avoid any disadvantage during this period.

As the WASSCE SC 2024 progresses, WAEC remains committed to upholding academic standards and supporting the educational journey of students across the region.
