UPDATES: [Junior Pope] Controversies Deepen as AGN Gives Fresh Orders, Community Holds at Daggers End over Late Actor’s Burial Rites

The sudden demise of Nollywood actor, Junior Pope has triggered a series of controversies that now escalate to cut across the immediate suspension of production of all movies involving riverine areas and boat riding.

This development is a sequel to the boat mishap that led to the sudden demise of the actor, alongside three others who drowned on their way back to Delta from a film location in Anambra State.

Consequent to the ugly incident, information available to the Erudite Media indicates that the corpse of one of the victims who was the makeup artist on the cast was yet to be found at the time of filing this report.

Although, it was perceived that the late actor was not dead at the time his body was recovered, however, the people that crowded the scene appeared to be either ignorant or more concerned about citizen journalism.

Despite the initial jubilation in Asaba following his recovery from the accident, he was later pronounced dead around 9:30 pm on Wednesday, April 10th, 2024.

Movie producer and eyewitness, Stanley Nwoke, as well as Emma Onyemeziem, the Delta State Chairman of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, confirmed his demise.

Meanwhile, the Actors Guild of Nigeria AGN has taken prompt action by suspending actors from shooting in any movie to be produced by Adanma Luke.

PUO reports also confirmed that the Anambra Community, where he died, is insisting that Late Nollywood Actor Junior Pope must be buried beside the River Niger as tradition demands.

Heavy controversy over the burial rites of the late actor, Junior Pope, as the community where Anam River extends allegedly demands that the family of the deceased either bury him at the riverside or pay a certain amount of money to carry out the rites his country home.

Reacting to a video by an alleged custodian of the River being circulated on social media, a whopping amount of money ranging from one to four million naira was reportedly said to be required for the burial rites to be carried out by the family of the late actor.

The development in addition to the atmosphere of sorrow in the movie industry has triggered mixed reactions in the country.

The late Junior Pope is survived by his beautiful wife and three wonderful kids. May his soul rest in God’s bosom. Amen.
