Rivers Gov. Wike, Governor-elect, Fubara Goes Separate Routes

AHEAD of the May 29th, 2023 handover ceremony of the newly elected officials in the country, the outgoing governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, and the Governor-elect of the state, Sim Fubara have fallen out. IgbereTV has reported

Sim Fubara who is also a political son of Governor Wike has reportedly distanced himself from the incumbent administration under the auspices of Wike.

According to AIF Media, the rift was a result of a disagreement between the duo on the Party’s (People’s Democratic Party) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.

It disclosed that Wike is fuming that Fubara invited Atiku and other PDP leaders considered to be his enemies to the May 29 inauguration at Port Harcourt without his consent.

The source further said that when confronted, Fubara told his close aides that he wouldn’t want to inherit the enemies of the outgoing governor and wouldn’t want to start fighting political wars early in his administration.

He (Wike) has allegedly opted for reconciliation with the party leaders both at the state and national, which didn’t go down well with Port Harcourt’s hitman.

Consequently, there is currently a huge crack between the duo, while Wike has allegedly withheld the release of funds for the inauguration.
