Popular #EndSARS Activist, DJ Switch Reportedly Arrested in Lagos

Popular activist and DJ, Obianuju Catherine Udeh, known professionally as DJ Switch, has reportedly been arrested by local police.

DJ Switch, a well-known figure from the #EndSARS protests, found herself in legal trouble after an incident at the Elemoro police station in Ajah on Monday.

DJ Switch was at the station to report a case of alleged fraud against her. During her visit, police managed to apprehend the accused individual. However, tensions escalated when DJ Switch reportedly obstructed the entrance of the police station and assaulted a female officer handling the case, as they were preparing to transport the accused to court.

As a result of her actions, DJ Switch was taken into custody for obstructing police work, resisting arrest, and assaulting police officers. She is set to be arraigned at a Magistrate court in Eti-Osa.

Attempts to get comments from Benjamin Hundeyin, the spokesperson for the state police, were unsuccessful, as he was unreachable by phone and did not respond to messages.

This arrest comes after DJ Switch fled Nigeria following her vocal participation in the #EndSARS protests where she claimed that soldiers fired on peaceful protesters at the Lekki Toll Gate in Lagos on October 20, 2020. She later discussed these events and her claims with the Canadian Parliament’s Sub-committee on International Human Rights.
