Fundamental Human Rights: Barr. Malcolm Omirhobo Faces Legal Practitioners Disciplinary Committee

A human rights lawyer and activist, Barr. Malcolm Omirhobo has been invited by the Body of Benchers, Legal Practitioners Disciplinary Committee, on an allegation of misconduct.

Response to the file is expected to be made within 24 work days.

Barrister Malcolm Omirhobo disclosed this while expressing anger over what he described as a frivolous and vexatious originating application.

Recall that the human rights lawyer caused a mild drama at the Supreme Court during a proceeding when he dressed in a combination of court dress and attire said to be worn by adherents of ‘Olokun’, the ruler of all bodies of water and other water deities.

He wrote: “I have just received a frivolous and vexatious originating application in respect of the allegation of misconduct against me for dressing as prescribed by my religion in the exercise, of my fundamental right to freedom of thought, conscience defense religion by Muslim Rights Concern (Muric ) from the Body of Benchers, defense practitioners Disciplinary Committee. I am to file my defense within 24 days.”
