Fani-Kayode Speaks As DSS Frees Him On Bail

Following his invitation for queries, the Department of State Services has released former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode.

The secret service also asked Fani-Kayode to report back to its facility on Wednesday.

Recall that the DSS invited the Director of Special Projects and New Media of the Tinubu/Shettima Presidential Campaign Council for questioning and grilled him for hours.

The APC chieftain had appeared at the DSS office in Abuja to answer questions on the allegations he made about some army generals plotting with some presidential candidates to scuttle the 2023 general elections.

Confirming his release, “I’ve been released. I’m on my way home. I’m going to address the press on the matter. Everything is under control,” Fani-Kayode told newsmen.

Earlier today, the DSS spokesman, Peter Afunanya, confirmed that Fani-Kayode had reported at the headquarters of the secret service.

The DSS spokesperson had explained in a statement that the former minister reported to the service at 9:00 am in response to the invitation extended to him.

“Chief Femi Fani-Kayode has been with the DSS since 9 am today, February 13, 2023, in response to the invitation extended to him by the Service,” Afunanya said.

His invitation by the agency came after the former minister alleged that the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, had a secret meeting with some army generals.

However, the Defence Headquarters subsequently denied the alleged meeting, pledging its commitment to democracy.
