Economic Hardship: Father Allegedly Shoots Son to Death in Abia

A 70-year-old man from Eziama village in the Umunneochi Local Government Area of Abia State, Nigeria, named Theophilus Ede, fatally shot his 27-year-old son, Sunday Ede.

The reason behind this horrific act was shockingly trivial – the son had consumed the last of the cooked food in their home.

The event, which was captured in a disturbing video that has since gone viral, shows the aftermath of the shooting.

The elderly man, with his hands and legs bound, is seen lying next to the lifeless body of his son, surrounded by locals expressing their horror and disbelief at the senseless act of violence. One can hear the palpable anger in the voices of the onlookers as they condemn Theophilus for his extreme reaction over something trivial as food.

The Abia State Police, upon receiving information about the incident, swiftly acted by arresting Theophilus Ede.

Reacting, the Abia State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Chinaka Chioma Maureen, confirmed the arrest and stated that the suspect had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation. The body of Sunday Ede has been deposited at a mortuary, and the police have assured that justice will be served.

  1. What can of justice do they expect to get fir the late young man whose father killed because of lack of FOOD. THE man needs psychiatric help. The government and the governors are to blame to an extent. Citizens should be taught and encouraged to go back to farming and agricultural expansion. More terror is at hand if Powe and leadership does not change hand and authority to teaching and supplying some help for the survival of our citizens. Heavens please come to our rescue. Amen!
