Tragic: Gunmen Kill Traffic Officer on Duty in Aroma, Anambra State

In a shocking incident this Thursday morning, an unidentified traffic warden was tragically killed while on duty at Aroma Roundabout in Awka, the capital of Anambra State.

The officer, employed by the Anambra Road Traffic Management Agency (ARTMA), was approached by a tinted Toyota Sienna. According to eyewitness reports, the traffic officer had stopped the vehicle to speak with its occupants when suddenly, one of them produced a firearm and shot the officer in the head. The vehicle quickly fled the scene, leaving bystanders in panic and chaos.

Sources suggest that the assailants might be connected to local cult activities, citing another unrelated killing in the nearby Ifite area the day before, which raises concerns about a potential pattern of violence. Despite these severe incidents, ARTMA has yet to release an official statement regarding the attack.

Efforts to obtain a comment from the Anambra State Police were unsuccessful as the Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, has not yet responded to inquiries
