Osinachi: Late gospel singer becomes ‘National concern’ as Senate President sends instruction to police
Ahmad Lawan, the Senate President, has demanded an investigation into the death of gospel singer, Mrs. Osinachi Nwachukwu by the police and other security agencies.
Lawan stated that the lives of Nigerians are valuable and that people in positions of authority must account for them when such death occurs.
He spoke before the Senate observed a minute of silence in honor of Osinachi during a plenary session.
Senator Ifeanyi Ubah (Anambra South) utilized Order 42 of the Senate Standing Orders on Personal Explanation to draw the chamber’s attention to the singer’s inexplicable demise.
The Senate President reacted by calling for an investigation into the cause of death.
He said,
“The authorities should investigate the death of this citizen, and the lives of every citizen must matter. This is one death too many.”
Osinachi is believed to have died as a result of difficulties caused by domestic violence.
Peter Nwachukwu, the singer’s spouse, is reported to have inflicted internal injuries on her.
