One burnt to death, three injured in Lagos gas explosion

One person, identified as Hassan Usman, has been burnt to death and three other persons sustained serious injuries in a gas explosion at Amuwo Odofin Industrial Estate area of Lagos.

The exposition which occurred at a private gas station in the area also destroyed property worth millions of naira.

According to PUNCH, some of residents were said to have fled when they heard a loud bang on Thursday ,thinking they were under an attack by armed robbers.

The body of the deceased was deposited at a morgue while the injured persons, said to be employees of the gas station, were taken to a hospital for medical treatment.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, said an investigation to unravel the cause of the explosion had begun.

“One person died. Three other people were seriously injured. Property worth millions of naira was destroyed. The injured members of staff were taken to a hospital. The cause of the explosion has yet to be established,” Hundeyin added.
