Nigeria Elections 2023: Sen. Melaye Cautions INEC, Security Agencies Against Manual Computation, Compromise
As the collations of the results of the Nigeria General Elections held Saturday, 25th of February, 2023 continued on Sunday, a former senator and member of the 8th Nigerian National Assembly, that represented Kogi West Senatorial District, Hon. Dino Melaye has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to maintain the ethics of the Commission by making sure that the authentic results of the polls are not altered.
Senator Melaye made the call on Sunday while cautioning the INEC not to cause a war in the discharge of their responsibilities.
According to him, if the Security Agencies or INEC compromise the election, there will be no country anymore because people are ready to defend themselves this time around.
Melaye made the statement as tensions grow ahead of the final collations and announcement of Saturday’s general polls.
Recall that there were different negative reports about alleged rigging and all forms of gerrymandering in some parts of the country.
Consequent to the development, concerned Nigerians have raised alarm over the impending doom if the results if the polls are eventually altered.
