  • Akwa Ibom Governor Umo Eno dismissed rumors of leaving PDP for APC, emphasizing his relationship with Senate President Akpabio is purely for governance
  • Eno reassured his commitment to the PDP, urging focus on development and cooperation despite political differences with Akpabio

Akwa Ibom State Governor Pastor Umo Eno has dismissed speculations that his close relationship with Senate President Godswill Akpabio indicates plans to leave the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the All Progressives Congress (APC).

During a media parley in Uyo, as part of the state’s 37th-anniversary celebration, Governor Eno emphasized the distinction between party loyalty and governance. He explained that his collaboration with Akpabio is based on respect for his position as Senate President and their shared goal of driving development in Akwa Ibom.

“I respect Akpabio as the Senate President, and our relationship benefits the state,” Eno said, adding that Akwa Ibom is fortunate to have Akpabio in such a prominent role. He reassured the public of his commitment to the PDP, stating, “I am working for PDP, and we will continue to support the party.”

Eno highlighted the importance of focusing on governance rather than political rivalry, urging peace and respect in politics. While maintaining that he disagrees with Akpabio on party matters, he stressed the need for cooperation to ensure progress in the state.

“There is no body language signalling my move to the APC. I remain committed to the PDP,” he concluded.
