The latest updates from the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) clubs ahead of the 2024-2025 season are as follows:

Ifeanyi Anaemena has rejoined Remo Stars for a second spell, strengthening the club’s defence for the upcoming NPFL season.

Recall that Anaemena last played for Remo Stars during the 2022-2023 NPFL season before he moved to Abia Warriors at the end of the season.

His experience will be crucial for the club, especially as they aim to make an impact in the CAF Champions League.

“He’s Back, Centre back, Ifeanyi Anaemena returns for another spell with the club ahead of the 2024-25 NPFL season.” Remo Stars wrote on X.

Meanwhile, Alex Oyowah has moved to Remo Stars from Rivers United, adding depth to the team’s roster. His impressive performance in the previous season bodes well for Remo Stars’ prospects in both the CAF Champions League and the NPFL.

Ekene Awazie To Remain At Enyimba

Ekene Awazie is set to extend his contract with Enyimba, showing his commitment to the club. His contribution to Enyimba’s previous NPFL title win demonstrates his value to the team.

NPFL clubs Undergo Management changes

There have been changes in the management of some NPFL clubs, with Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa constituting a new board for Sunshine Stars and Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule dissolving the management of Nasarawa United.

Ologunlowuwa will work with former Sunshine Queens coach Oladimeji Abimbola, alongside a veteran sports journalist and former chairman of the Sports Writers Association in the state Akintunde Akinsemola, as full-time members.

Tokunbo Akinyelure, who until now worked as the team manager of Sunshine Stars, and Evelyn Lebi are also part of the board as part-time members representing the football associations and the state’s ministry of sports.

In another development, Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule on Tuesday dissolved the Othman Ibrahim-led management of the state-owned men’s football club, Nasarawa United, after gaining promotion back to the NPFL.

Deputy Governor of the state, Emmanuel Akabe, made the pronouncement on behalf of the governor after meeting with the Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Jafaru Ango, and other officials.

The dissolution left the fate of the technical crew hanging as they prepared for the 2024/25 season.

Nasarawa United were relegated from the NPFL in the 2023 abridged season and regained promotion back to the topflight this year by winning the Nigeria National League.

Meanwhile, Henry Abiodun has stepped down as Sunshine Stars’ technical consultant, citing unprofessional conduct as the reason for his departure.

Lobi Stars Found a home ground

Lobi Stars have chosen the Tafawa Balewa Stadium in Bauchi as their home ground for the upcoming NPFL season.

In Ilorin, Kwara United has appointed Olatunbosun Joseph Abayomi as the club’s new psychologist.

The upcoming 2024-25 NPFL season is set to commence on Saturday, August 31, and these developments add an air of anticipation and excitement for football fans across Nigeria.
