Will Peter Obi Step Down For Atiku? Doyin Okupe Speaks On ‘Alliance’ Against Tinubu
The presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, will not drop his ambition for that of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Doyin Okupe insists. Naija News understands that the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar is reportedly planning to meet with NNPP’s Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and Peter Obi over a proposed alliance to defeat the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Bola Tinubu. But Okupe, who is the Director-General of the Peter Obi Campaign Organisation, has stated that the former Anambra State governor is in the race to win. Oshiomhole Speaks On Tinubu’s Emergence As APC Presidential Candidate
A former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole, has reacted to the emergence of Bola Tinubu as the party’s Presidential candidate. Tinubu, a former Governor of Lagos State won the APC Presidential primary election by a landslide on Wednesday, defeating thirteen aspirants in the process, Naija News reports. He polled 1,271 votes to beat the likes of Vice President Yemi Osinbajo who polled 235 votes, former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi who scored 316 votes, and Senate President Ahmed Lawan who polled 152 votes. In a statement he personally signed on Friday, Oshiomhole described the victory of Tinubu as a reaffirmation of his much-acclaimed unique capacity. The former Edo Governor said the Presidential candidate of APC represents a movement, a force, full of energy and radiating hope of a brighter future to come. 2023: Ex-PDP Governors Task Atiku On Choice Of Running Mate
Former Governors of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have asked the party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, to choose a competent and worthy running mate. Naija News earlier reported that there is a possibility that either Governors Nyesom Wike (Rivers), Ifeanyi Okowa (Delta) or Udom Emmanuel (Akwa Ibom) may emerge as Atiku’s running mate in the 2023 general elections. In a meeting with Atiku in Abuja on Friday, the former governors asked Atiku to clear the air on where he intends to pick his running mate from. A Public Affairs commentator, Muhammed-Bello Buhari, has said that the emergence of Bola Tinubu will affect the chances of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2023 elections. Tinubu, a former Governor of Lagos State won the APC Presidential primary election by a landslide on Wednesday with seven aspirants stepping down for him. He polled 1,271 votes to beat the likes of Vice President Yemi Osinbajo who polled 235 votes, former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi who scored 316 votes, and Senate President Ahmed Lawan who polled 152 votes. In a post on his Facebook page on Saturday, Buhari said that most northerners see Tinubu as a Southerner before his religious faith. He said the majority of the masses in the North do not care whether Tinubu is a Muslim or Christian, stressing that what they see is simply a Southern candidate. The public commentator stated that most northerners are indifferent about the prospect of a Muslim-Muslim ticket. Days after the national convention of the All Progressives Congress (APC) held in Abuja, Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has explained why the Northern governor backed Bola Tinubu over Vice President Yemi Osinbajo. Naija News reports that former Governor of Lagos State, Tinubu emerged winner of the APC presidential primary. He defeated the likes of VP Osinbajo, Former Transportation Minister, Rotimi Amaechi, Senate President Ahmad Lawan, Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello, Pastor Tunde Bakare and others. Delegates of Presidential Aspirant, Ahmed Sani Yarima have revealed some reasons why the politician was woefully defeated in the just concluded All Progressives Congress primary election held in Abuja. Naija News recalls that Yarima only secured four votes at the party’s primary election last Tuesday, June 7, 2022. The former aide to President Muhammadu Buhari on new media, Bashir Ahmad has revealed his position on the controversial issue of a same-religion ticket for the 2023 presidential election. Taking to his Twitter account on Saturday afternoon, Ahmad stated that a Muslim-Muslim ticket or Christian-Christian ticket may help in reducing or totally eliminating politics based on religious prejudice in Nigeria. The former presidential media aide while stating that he is not blindly supporting a same-religion ticket, however, claimed that such has helped Kaduna State. He wrote: “I am not blindly supporting or pushing for a Muslim/Muslim or Christian/Christian tickets, but consciously know that either of the two will definitely help us to reduce or even get rid of the politics that is solely based on religious prejudice in this country.
