2023: Kwankwaso Speaks On Stepping Down For Tinubu And Atiku

Ahead of the 2023 election, the Presidential candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party and national leader of the Kwankwasiya movement, Rabiu Kwankwaso has affirmed that victory is sure and Bola Tinubu and Atiku Abubarkar are no threats to him. Speaking in an interview with Punch, Kwankwaso said NNPP is popular across the country and he will not be stepping down for anyone. The presidential candidate said Nigerians are yearning for someone who can unite the country, improve the education system and end the issues of insecurity. 2023: Tinubu Must Tell Nigerians The Source Of His Wealth – Adeyanju

A political activist and social commentator, Deji Adeyanju has submitted that the 2023 presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu must tell the public the source of his income. He questioned the general submission that Tinubu made his money in the past as no one is able to categorically point to his business interests and sources of income. Making reference to the bullion vans spotted at Tinubu’s Lagos residence on the eve of the 2019 presidential election, Adeyanju queried how the APC candidate can lay claim to so much wealth that it takes more than one bullion van to move his cash. Ekiti 2022: Segun Oni In Fresh Trouble As SDP Tells Court To Disqualify Him As Party Candidate

A few hours before the commencement of the 2022 governorship election in Ekiti State, Segun Oni may be disqualified as the candidate for the Social Democratic Party (SDP). This is as the SDP has filed a suit before a federal high court in Ado Ekiti seeking his disqualification as the party’s governorship candidate. Naija News understands the plaintiffs in the case submitted that Oni didn’t participate in any valid primary election conducted by the party. The suit marked FHC/C/31/2022 and filed on Wednesday, has the SDP as the first plaintiff, while Ishola Agboola, Tunde Alabi and Kehinde Rufus are the second, third and fourth plaintiffs, respectively. According to the suit, Oni was only nominated by Shehu Gabam and Olu Agunloye, who they claim can’t be legally recognised as the national chairman and the national secretary of the party, respectively. They, therefore, want the court to declare Oni’s emergence as the SDP governorship candidate for Saturday’s election in Ekiti as wrongful, illegal, null and void. Read more.

Kogi Deputy Speaker, Ahmed Mohammed Impeached

The Deputy Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Ahmed Mohammed has been impeached. Naija News gathered that Mohammed who represents Akpa 1 State Constituency was impeached during an emergency sitting held at the State Assembly complex in Lokoja. Hon. Enema Paul, the member representing Dekina/Okura Constituency made this known in a motion of urgent importance reason the floor of the assembly. The assembly accused Muhammed alongside 3 other principal officers of gross misconduct and arbitrary use of their offices. The three principal leaders are; Bello Hassan Balogun (Majority Leader), Idris Ndako (Deputy Majority Leader), and Hon. Edoko Moses Ododo (Chief Whip). Paul said 17 out of 25 lawmakers signed the impeachment notice of Mohammed and the suspension of three other principal officers in the house. ‘It Was A Fraud’ – Aggrieved APC Members Storm Tinubu’s Residence Over Reps Primary

Some aggrieved members of the Lagos All Progressives Congress stormed the residence of the National leader of the party Bola Tinubu rejecting the outcome of the primary election that produced Lanre Oshun as the party’s House of Representatives candidate for the Lagos Mainland (West) federal constituency. A statement signed by the Chairman and secretary of Lagos Mainland Elders Forum Baba Fashina and Akibu Bankole described the election held on Friday, 27th May 2022 as a complete fraud. The Elders Forum said the exercise was marred by significant non-compliance with the APC’s constitution, the Electoral Act of 2022, and the party’s guidelines for the conduct of primaries. According to the Elders Forum, the election outcome was rejected, following an appeal by one of the leading aspirants for the ticket, Prince Akeem Animashaun, with the Primary Election Appeal Committee of the APC. Animashaun in his petition to the APC Appeal Committee, dated May 29, 2022, described the primary election as a fraud, claiming that it did not comply with the party’s constitution, rules and guidelines for conducting primaries, or the Electoral Act 2022. PDP Governors React To Okowa’s Emergence As Atiku’s Running Mate

Governors elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have hailed the emergence of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State as the running mate of the party’s Presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar. Naija News had earlier reported that Atiku announced Okowa as his running mate at the National Secretariat of the opposition party in Abuja on Thursday. Speaking at the unveiling ceremony, Atiku revealed that he chose Okowa because he has the qualities to be the President and has an appreciation of the deep rot in which the country has been put into. Atiku selected Okowa despite the National Advisory Committee and National Working Committee (NWC) recommending Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State for the position. Reacting to the development, the PDP Governors Forum congratulated their colleague, Okowa over his selection as the party’s vice-presidential candidate. Fr Mbaka Paid By South-East Governor To Halt Peter Obi’s Ambition – Ohanaeze

Apex Igbo Socio-Cultural Organization, Ohanaeze Ndigbo has called on the presidential candidate of Labour Party, Peter Obi to forgive the Spiritual Director of Adoration Ministry, Enugu, Fr. Ejike Mbaka for tagging him ‘stingy man’. The group commended the Enugu Diocese of Catholic Church, led by Bishop Onaga for distancing itself from the statement of Mbaka against Obi. According to Ohanaeze, Mbaka was paid by a South-East Governor to sow seeds of discord in attempting to halt his presidential ambition. Read more.

Ekiti Election: Labour Party Breaks Silence On Merger With APC

The Labour Party has reacted to viral reports about a proposed merger with the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the Ekiti State Governorship election. Naija News understands that the Ekiti State 2022 governorship election is scheduled to hold on Saturday, June 18. Reports making the rounds have, however, suggested that there the LP is making moves to form an alliance with the APC. A statement made available to newsmen barely 48hours before the polls, however, quoted the National Publicity Secretary of the Labour Party, Abayomi Arabambi, as saying that news about the merger is fake and untrue. Arabambi urged members of the public to ignore the reports, saying that the talks on LP’s alliance with APC is one public lie that cannot fly. Read more.

2023: South-East Needs To Align With Other Regions To Produce President – Chidoka

A former minister of Aviation, Osita Chidoka has called on politicians in the South-East to align with another region in the next four to eight years to produce the next president of Nigeria. The chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Thursday noted that the votes of people from the South-East alone can not produce a president without support from another region. Chidoka stated this during an interview on Channels TV on Thursday. He further stated that the South-East would continue to recalibrate its presence and continue to push for the presidency in PDP.
