Jamb: The Dates For 2020/2021 Post UTME Examination Has Been Fixed

The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced September 7 as the starting date for the Post-Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination.

The screening for the 2020 admission for all the Universities, Polytechnics and College of education will officially commence on September 7 2020.

Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has explained the reasons for the shift from August 21, stating that it was to accommodate candidates taking part in this year’s school-based Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE)

The register, Ishaq Oloyede, made this information known, after a virtual meeting with the Vice Chancellors, Provosts and Rectors of all tertiary institutions.

According to him: “Presently as you are aware, WAEC starts the Senior School Certificate Examination on August 17, it will go on till September 7. Similarly, on September 2 or thereabout, NABTEB will commence its examination that will go on till October 15, and immediately after that, NECO starts from the 5th to Nov.18.

“Rather than making candidates run, particularly, when they have to write their school certificate exam in different towns and rush to universities elsewhere for post-UTME, like somebody rushing from Sokoto to Ibadan for post-UTME, we believe as a custodian of the highest sector of the education system; we should avoid that.

Oloyede also added that all institutions whose post-UTME screening was mandatory for candidates would have to split such exercise into 2 phases.

“For those institutions who want to take post-UTME, that cannot be earlier than September 7 and it will be held twice – from September 7 to October 4, and then it will be held for the second time on November 18 to mop up those who are taking their school certificate examination,” he said.
