I Introduced VP Osinbajo To Bola Tinubu In 1999, He Is Principled – Buhari‘s Aide
The Special Adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari on Political Matters, Babafemi Ojudu has revealed that he introduced Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo to former Lagos State governor, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Speaking to in an interview with Chude Jideonwo, the media entrepreneur, Ojudu said he linked both men when Tinubu wanted an attorney-general when he became governor in 1999. While stating that Osinbajo performed excellently as Lagos attorney-general, Ojudu said the nation’s vice-president is passionate about federalism. “If I support Osinbajo, he deserves to be supported; I’ve known him since 1989. And in 1999, when I worked for Ahmed Bola Tinubu to become governor, he asked me if I knew someone who would become a good attorney-general and I said I have a lawyer who is smart and principled and he said go and call him,” he said. “We sat down with him for one hour talking about federalism and the man [Osinbajo] for eight years proved himself. I was vindicated. He is comfortable with the young and old. He is comfortable with new technology and always coming out with solutions to problems. It doesn’t cost me anything to align with such a person. “I’m looking for a better society where people don’t pile all the resources into their personal account. I have the right to support that kind of person.” Ojudu, a former journalist, insisted that he would return back to his farm if President Buhari backs the presidential ambition of Tinubu. According to him, he can’t be forced to support someone he does not believe in. “Never. Take that from me. Write it down today. I would go back to the farm. If I don’t believe in you I won’t work for you,” he said.
