How to Join Dangote Varsity Skill Acquisition Training

In a deliberate bid to make students become self-reliant and curtail the overwhelming rate of unemployment in the country, Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology, Wudil, Kano State, has introduced a skills acquisition programme.

The Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof. Musa Yakasai, disclosed this while speaking to newsmen in Wudil on Wednesday.

He said that the students were being trained in artisanal skills, such as tailoring, hairdressing, soap making, and welding, among others.

He said that the programme was aimed at equipping students with multiple entrepreneurial skills while undergoing their normal academic programmes.

According to the vice-chancellor, the programme would help the students to understand the theoretical concepts they learn in the textbooks, “their real-life applications, life advancement opportunities, as well as career equipping and preparatory knowledge for the future”.

He further revealed that the university’s management has also created an avenue to engage students in menial job opportunities on the campus to support their financial demands.

We are planning to make use of 17 acres of land for irrigation and mechanized farming, which will enhance our revenue generation drive and revenue base of the university.

“We have also formed a consultancy services unit, which will be used for offering consultancy services to the general public, and at the same time generating revenue for the institution,” the VC added.

Those who wish to be part of the programme are urged to apply for Dangote University as the 2024 admission exercise commences.
