Governors, Clerics, Boss Mustapha, Others Jet To Rome To Pray For Nigeria

A special delegation on Tuesday departed the country for special prayers in Rome ahead of the 2023 general elections.

The delegation, Naija News understands was led by the Executive Secretary, of Nigeria Christian Pilgrims Commission (NCPC), Yakubu Pam, who confirmed to newsmen yesterday that the people involved would engage in offering special prayers for the country ahead of the next elections. While confirming that one hundred and twenty-one (121) people were on the trip to the capital city of Italy, Pam said the pilgrimage to Rome is the first to be organised by the NCPC. He stressed that it was special, being bilateral and not the regular pilgrimage to holy sites. The delegates, Naija News learnt include the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha, some State Governors and deputies, traditional rulers and clerics. Stating their agenda, Pam said the delegation will pray for the peaceful conduct of the 2023 elections, and security challenges, and also discuss national issues. He said: “We will pray for unity, we will pray for the vulnerable and less privileged. We will pray for the economic situation to be improved. “We will be praying for the leaders of the country for God to touch them”. The NCPC chief added that 40 of the pilgrims were sponsored by the government while others were on self-sponsorship. The pilgrimage spiritual leader and Catholic Archbishop of Abuja, Ignatius Kaigama commented on the trip. “We are going to pray for transformation, we will pray for the spirit of holiness and for our country to experience transformation”, Kaigama said.
