Goodluck Jonathan’s Son-In-Law Dumps PDP For APC

Jonathan Reacts To Death Of Former Aide, Gulak

The son-in-law of former President Goodluck Jonathan, Prince Godswill Edward, has defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Naija News reports that Edward decamped to the ruling party together with many of his supporters at Usumutong/Abeugo council ward in Abi Local Government Area of Cross River state on Wednesday, June 9.

The Director-General of the Conference of APC Support Groups, Obidike Chukwuebuka, congratulated Prince Edward on his decision to abandon PDP.

He described his move as a victory for the APC in the South-South part of Nigeria and a plausible confirmation of President Buhari’s unflinching leadership style.

“Our president has yet again been vindicated by the crucial entry of key political figureheads in Cross River state that our president has the popular support and hearts of the Nigerian people, especially those of the South South.” he said.

Recall that Governor Ben Ayade of Cross River had on May 20 also dumped the PDP for the APC.

Meanwhile, the Caretaker Extra-Ordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC) of the ruling APC has released its timetable for the conduct of party’s congresses from the ward to zonal levels.

This online newspaper reports that the APC was however silent on the conduct of its National Convention.

Secretary to the Committee, Senator John James Akpanduoehehe, disclosed these to newsmen at the party secretariat in Abuja after their meeting under Gov. Mai Mala Buni.

He stated that ward congresses will hold July 10th, local government congresses are fixed for August 6t while the state congress will be on September 3 and zonal congress for 30th September, 2021.
