FAAN Reveals Fate Of Passengers As FG Grounds Arik Air

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), on Tuesday, reacted to the grounding of Arik Airline fleet by the federal government.

The reaction follows an earlier report that the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has grounded the operations of a local airline operator, Arik Air.

Naija News understands the Minister ordered that the operations of the airline be grounded until further notice.

The decision to ground Arik Airlines follows an order from the enforcement department of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court due to an outstanding debt of $2.5 million by the airline.

Reacting to the suspension of the airline’s operations, FAAN noted that it is already making efforts to work out plans to rebook and transfer passengers billed to travel on Arik Air to other airlines.

FAAN’s Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Mrs Obiagelo Orah, said the authority is working with other agencies to assist the affected passengers.

“This is to inform the public that the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) is aware that Arik Airline has been grounded due to litigation issues between the airline and their creditors.

“The Authority has instructed all airport managers across the country to assist the affected passengers as Arik Airline works out plans to rebook and transfer passengers to other available flights,” the statement reads.
