Ebonyi: Gov. Nwifuru Fires Umahi’s Appointees, Orders Immediate Disengagement

The governor of Ebonyi State, Francis Nwifuru has sacked political office holders appointed by his predecessor and immediate former governor, Dr. David Umahi.

This was made known to newsmen in a statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Comr. Monday Uzor.

According to the statement, Gov. Nwifuru said the termination is “with immediate effect”.

“The affected appointees are to hand over all government properties in their possession to the most senior civil servants in their respective ministries, departments, and agencies,” Nwifuru declared.

The statement also revealed that the governor expressed his appreciation to the appointees for their efforts in the development of the state and wished them well.

Nwifuru also said permanent secretaries and political office holders in the civil service commission, judicial commission, Ebonyi electoral commission, and the anti-corruption/public complaint commission, are exempt from the purge.

Recall that Nwifuru is a political ally of Umahi, who was instrumental to his governorship election victory on the platform of the APC.
