Crisis in APGA Anambra; who bells the cat.

The news that greeted the social media few days back, was the outright disqualification of some members of APGA, who had declared interest to vie for the governorship position in Anambra state using the platform, and who had also demonstrated it through obtaining the Expression of interest form, for the whopping sum of 22million Naira. They were said to have been disqualified on the basis of being a fledgling to the party and/or exhibiting insubordination and defiance to the party’s hierarchy. That single story generated motley of opinions from individual across the political divide. While many read fraud into it, others saw it as a welcome development, citing that most of the disqualified candidates either are in political positions or do not have the financial wherewithal to fund the election campaigns. This dust this has generated has not yet settled.
Just today, it was again in the news that the national executive committee of the party ousted the hitherto National chairman of the party, Dr. Victor Oye and had him replaced with a certain Jude Okeke. It was also alleged that some high-ranked members of the party were also expelled on the ground of indulging in gross misconduct and anti- party activities, and the event was also aired on AIT. This heralded another round of controversy. While the credibility of this story is still contestable, the internal dissension in APGA however, is glaring.
The day for the election is few months away. The day for the primaries is expected not to exceed the next two weeks. Should APGA go into these elections divided, what would be their fate? Your guess is as good as mine.
APGA should be reminded that a house that is divided upon itself will definitely collapse. They must find an amicable way to resolve these palpable crisis that is on the verge of tearing the party apart. They must reach an accord and form a united front, lest the impending doom will be disastrous!
Oppositions are waiting to capitulate on these crises to send APGA packing and any further escalation of these crises would broaden their hopes. Hence, this should be nipped in the bud, otherwise APGA will soon disappear from Anambra political space.
