Carlo Ancelotti Confirms Ferland Mendy’s Contract Extension At Real Madrid

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has officially announced that defender Ferland Mendy has agreed to a new contract with the club.

Ferland Mendy, 29, has been a crucial player for Los Blancos, contributing to the club’s success with two Champions League titles in 2022 and 2024.

Mendy, who is the primary left-back at the Bernabeu, has started four La Liga matches in the 2024-2025 season as Real Madrid strives to defend their Spanish crown.

However, he was on the bench during the recent 4-1 victory over Espanyol, with the team making a strong comeback after conceding an early own goal.

Ahead of Real Madrid’s La Liga clash with Alaves at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, September 24, Ancelotti confirmed Mendy’s new contract, expressing his satisfaction with the agreement.

He said, “We are delighted with him. He has renewed his contract, and he’s doing very well.

“Defensively he is playing at a very high level. I don’t ask him to operate on the ball like other full-backs because we have a very strong left winger. He can also do the offensive work, but we don’t ask that of him.”

With the contract extension, Ferland Mendy is poised to continue his tenure at Real Madrid for a seventh season after joining from Lyon in 2019.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the Frenchman has signed a three-year extension, binding him to the Spanish giants until June 2027.
