APC: Why I Joined Shekarau’s Faction – Former Kano Deputy Gov

Governor Abdullahi Ganduje’s deputy during his first term, Hafiz Abubakar has revealed why he joined Senator Ibrahim Shekarau’s faction of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State.

Naija News reports that Abubakar joined Shekarau’s faction at an event that was held at the Senator’s residence in Kano on Tuesday.

Recall that Abubakar resigned from his position in 2018 due to some political differences with the governor but both later settled after the 2019 general elections.

Speaking to newsmen on Tuesday, Abubakar said he decided to join the Shekarau faction because it is based on truth, fairness and all-inclusiveness.

He described the crisis rocking the APC in Kano as unfortunate, adding that the former governor’s faction is the future of the party in the state.

“I am aligning myself with the truth and future, which is the Shekarau’s camp because it is talking about internal democracy and all-inclusiveness in party politics.

“My position is that I’m aligning myself with the truth and future. But the truth is that what is going on in APC is really unfortunate. It is not what we and all our supporters expected.

“Today, it is public knowledge that the leaders of APC in Kano go to public functions and tell us that the party belongs to three persons in the state – the governor, his wife and the chairman,” he said.
