Another Wave of Exodus of Members Hits PDP in Anambra
In a dramatic political shift, over 1,300 members of the major opposition party, the People’s Democratic Party PDP, have defected to the ruling All Progressives Grand Alliance APGA, in Anambra State.
This wave of defections underscores the growing support for Governor Charles Soludo’s transformative agenda for sustainable development.
The former PDP members, including leaders, executives, and loyalists, gathered at the Women Development Center in Awka on Saturday, June 8, 2024, where they were officially welcomed into APGA by Governor Soludo.
This exodus from PDP to APGA follows Governor Soludo’s comprehensive development plan for all 21 Local Government Areas in Anambra State. His leadership, described as indefatigable, has resonated deeply across the state.
Addressing the new APGA members, Governor Soludo urged them to collaborate with the government in its ongoing development efforts. He assured them of equality and camaraderie within the party.
The decampees acknowledged that Anambra State, under Soludo’s administration, has witnessed unprecedented progress marked by inclusivity, transparency, and effective governance, a stark contrast to the previous administration.
High-profile defectors such as High Chief Jude Osude Anagor, Dr. Arinze Alphonsus Anagu, High Chief Jude Osude, and Prof. Rose Nwankwo expressed their confidence in Soludo’s leadership.
They highlighted his achievements, noting his recognition as the 2023 Best Governor of the Year in Infrastructure and Rural Development and the 2024 Democracy Governor, as pivotal in their decision to switch allegiance.
This significant political realignment is a testament to Governor Soludo’s effective governance, which has not only garnered respect from opposition parties but also unified Anambra’s political landscape under his visionary leadership.
