2023 Presidency: Lawan Reassures Tinubu

Senate president, Ahmad Lawan has reassured APC chieftain, Bola Ahmed Tinubu that the APC will once again hold the presidential mantle in 2023.

Lawan said this while receiving Tinubu in Abuja. Tinubu had visited the APC Senate Caucus to seek their support for his Presidential ambition. Welcoming him, Lawan said: “2023, Your Excellency, by the Grace of God, will be a year for APC in Nigeria again.” He also praised the chieftain for taking into cognizance the importance of the party’s Senate Caucus in the upcoming election. Tinubu had assured Nigerians that he would be stepping into Buhari’s shoes if elected in the 2023 election. He also promised not to step on the toes of Buhari, but would continue where he stopped. Meanwhile, the camp of Tinubu has opened up on the reason vice president, Yemi Osinbanjo and others won’t declare for the 2023 presidency. The race towards the 2023 presidency within the APC will fully kickoff after the national convention of the party which is set for March 26. Speaking to Daily Post in Abuja, a source close to Tinubu’s associate stated that Osinbajo can’t show interest because Tinubu has ‘Right of first refusal’. He explained that Osinbajo and others lacked the power to defeat Tinubu at the primaries hence the decision to remain silent. Read more
