2023: Masari Speaks On Contesting For President

Masari

Governor Aminu Bello Masari of Katsina State has denied reports that he plans to contest for Presidency or another political office in 2023.

Masari, while speaking at the NAN forum, dismissed such speculations adding that after his tenure as governor expires in 2023, he has no plans of contesting for any other position.

He said having served the people in various capacities, he would not seek political office again but support the younger generation to assume leadership positions.

Masari said: ”I am not going to contest for any office either in the party or in government.”

”I was in the National Assembly as the Speaker of the House of Representatives, so what should I go back to the place to do again?

“In the party, I was the Deputy National Chairman of APC for the north. So what should I go back to the party to contest for?”

“In the state, I have gone up to the level of a governor, where will I go? I think it is time to allow the younger generation to play their own part.”

Meanwhile, gunmen suspected to be bandits have kidnapped the son of Alhaji Abubakar Maikano, a top aide and Administrative Officer to President Muhammadu Buhari.

Recall that this is coming months after yet to be arrested burglars attacked the official residence of Maikano inside the Presidential Villa.

According to SaharaReporters, Sanusi Maikano was kidnapped on Saturday around 8:30 pm after returning from his farmhouse.

The gunmen abducted him in his residence in Gwantu, headquarters of Sanga Local Government Area in Kaduna State.

Gwantu is about 2 hours drive to the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

The armed bandits, numbering about eight, trailed Sanusi from his farmhouse to his residence, a security official said.

The bandits did not harm anybody inside the house, where Sanusi’s two wives also reside.

“When they came to the house, they found three young men, including the younger brother of the victim. They asked ‘where is Sanusi?’ They were told that he was not around. But they insisted that they saw him alighting from his car not long ago,” one of the sources said.
