2023: Igbo Presidency Will Fizzle Out – PDP Reveals Why And How
The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP said it believes the agitation for Igbo Presidency in 2023 will be thrown off if concerned stakeholders engage in a dialogue, Naija News reports.
According to PDP’s National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, the party only need to have a round table and the issue of agitation by any region will be put aside. Ologunagba said every region of the country has individuals with leadership qualities who also genuinely have Nigeria at heart. The PDP spokesman said: “On the issue of Igbo president, the point is this, our party believes that every part of this country qualifies, qualified persons that are genuinely patriotic to this nation. “We know that the moment we begin to talk to ourselves and reconcile, all those tendencies will start to subsume into the common goal, so that would be the approach to reconcile and bring everyone together. “You can listen to everybody’s concern, and the moment you address those concerns, all those issues will fizzle out. PDP is noted for that and has done that before, and that is why Nigerians are hoping and counting days for the party’s return to governance so that their lives can return to normal as they used to when we were in government.” Meanwhile, PDP has on Tuesday revealed how it plans to resolve the Biafra agitation led by the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, and insecurity generally across the country, if elected into power in 2023. Ologunagba in a statement issued on Tuesday said the PDP will carry every part of the country along and make sure everyone has a sense of belonging. The party’s spokesman said this in a chat with newsmen yesterday. When questioned on how PDP intends to resolve IPOB’s Biafra agitation if the party returns to power in 2023, he explained that PDP is a party that entertains people from different ethnicity and does not condone any form of bias. Therefore, he said that the party plans to give IPOB a sense of belonging. According to him: “PDP is a party that believes in the unity and cohesiveness of every part of this country, and for you to solve the issue of insecurity, you must give every part of this country a sense of belonging. When there is that sense of belonging, every agitation and concern will succumb because we have a common goal. “So, because the Peoples Democratic Party, like its name, connotes is actually of the people and we are talking about “peoples” from different backgrounds, religions, and cultures would come together in unity to form a nation. “When you have that unity, you can be assured that every part of the country would be interested in the success of the whole, and that is what PDP has been doing in the past.”
