2023: APC Has Many Gladiators But The Party Won’t Break Up – Ayade
Governor Ben Ayade of Cross River State has revealed that he expects the ruling All Progressives Congress to emerge stronger after its National Convention scheduled for February 2022.
The Governor added that though the party is currently facing many challenges, he expects that the APC will emerge stronger from its National Convention.
Ayade who spoke when he played host to the APC reconciliation team led by former Nasarawa State Governor, Adamu Abdullahi said those who expect the party to break up ahead of the 2023 general elections would be disappointed.
Naija News reports Governor Ayade hosted the nine-member reconciliation team at the State Executive Council Chamber of the Governor’s Office, Calabar.
He said despite the present challenges, APC will still come together and win elections.
“Today, we have so many gladiators and today, we are the ruling party, but what I know for sure is that at the last minute, APC will always come together and win again and again.
“For those who have some complex permutations that perhaps this crisis or this tension arising from the congresses and perhaps, the potential national congress ahead of us will bring to an end the APC, they are just joking.
“In my short stay in the party, the warmth and embrace I have received, I know for certain that as soon as we are done with the convention, with the great work your committee is doing, the party will put its acts together and start preparing against 2023,” Ayade said.
While commending the reconciliation team for efforts targeted at uniting the party, Ayade advocated power sharing as a way to bring peace to the party.
He said: “I want to commend you and to use this opportunity to talk to our members who have so much strength by the positions they occupy to give us room to share power. It is only by sharing power that there is peace.”
