‘Wike, Atiku Move On After Failed Reconciliation Plans’

2023: PDP Chieftain Discloses Only Solution To Atiku, Wike Rift

The crisis in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) remains unresolved as the 2023 general elections draw closer.

There are indications that the presidential candidate of the party, Atiku Abubakar has moved on after failed reconciliation bid with the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike-led camp. This is coming after the report that Governor Wike and his allies are planning to meet with the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu. A source in the party that spoke with Leadership claimed that the National Chairman of the Party, Iyorchia Ayu attacked Wike last week because Atiku resolved to move on. Ayu who had insisted on not resigning from an office described people calling for his removal as children planning to destroy the party. The source noted that PDP is mindful of Governor Wike’s camp remaining in the party and working against it ahead of the 2023 election. The source said, “We are getting prepared to head into the elections with the mindset of certain scenarios. We are mindful of the options before the Wike camp, they have the option of dumping the party, staying put and working against the party, and remaining indifferent to the party activities. “We don’t see the likelihood yet of the governors leaving the party but we are mindful of the possibility of a repeat of the 2015 scenario where some PDP leaders worked for the APC.”
