UNIPORT Promotes 43 to Rank of Professor, 22 to Associate Prof
43 senior academics of the University of Port Harcourt have been promoted to the rank of professor and 22 others to Associate Professor.
They were considered suited to benefit from the new round of promotion in the institution following the latest review by the institution.
A notice made public by the Public Relations Officer of the institution, Dr. Samuel Kpenu, said 22 other senior academics were promoted to the rank of associate professor (readers).
It stated that the promotion was sequel to the approval by the Minister of Education on Friday, December 8, 2023.
There has been an earlier meeting of the Central A&PC Academic of the University of Port Harcourt on Thursday, November 23, 2023, where the newly promoted academics were recommended.
A breakdown of the promotion showed that the Faculty of Science got ten new professors, Faculty of Education got ten new professors, Faculty of CHS got eight new professors, Faculty of Humanities got seven new professors, while the Faculty of Agriculture got three new professors.
The Faculty of Social Science got one, Faculty of Engineering got one, the Faculty of Management got one, and the Faculty of Communication and Media Studies got one.
