Tragedy! Two Teenagers Drown In Kaduna River

Two teenagers, both residents of Angwar Sirdi in Kaduna State, have been reported dead after drowning in a river.

It was gathered that the victims, Zakaria Aliyu Yahaya and Yusuf Abdullahi, had gone out for play and did not return home after sunset. A resident who confirmed the incident to newsmen said the victims, both in their Junior Secondary School 1 at the Government Secondary School in Zaria Kaduna, went swimming at a famous river called Kogin Mutuwa (River of Death) in the community. The source, Mallam Musa Dogara, who identified himself as a family friend, said: “it was after sunset when they did not return that we began to look for them before one of their friends informed us that they told him they were going for a bath at the river.” According to him, since they are teenagers, the family didn’t bother much about their whereabouts until the following morning when they did not return home. The family, according to him, went in search of the children hours later and discovered that they had gone to the river. The Kaduna Police Command, however, is yet to acknowledge the incident.
