Trump, Caitlyn Jenner, Others Slams Biden for Declaring Easter Sunday as Transgender Day
In a move that has ignited discussions across the United States, President Joe Biden’s recent declaration that Transgender Day of Visibility would be recognized on Easter Sunday has met with sharp criticism from various quarters, including former President Donald Trump and several other prominent figures.
Former President Trump voiced his disapproval in stark terms, condemning the administration’s decision as “appalling and insulting,” particularly criticizing the directive that banned children from submitting religious-themed designs for the Easter egg roll. This sentiment was echoed by his press secretary, Karoline Leavitt, who decried what she described as a “years-long assault on the Christian faith” by the Biden Administration, urging an apology to the Christian and Catholic communities in America.
The controversy stems from the administration’s announcement to uphold the celebration of Transgender Day of Visibility on its customary date, March 31, which this year coincides with Easter Sunday. President Biden, expressing his stance amid this backdrop, emphasized the integral role of transgender Americans in the nation’s fabric while decrying the surge of legislative and societal attacks targeting the transgender community.
This decision has drawn a broad spectrum of reactions, with figures like former presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy and Republican House Speaker Mike Johnson critiquing the overlap of these observances as a betrayal of Easter’s central message. Criticism also came from Senators Tom Cotton and Tommy Tuberville, the latter of whom controversially labeled Democrats as a “Satanic cult” in response.
The declaration was similarly lambasted by Republican Senate candidate Jim Banks and Georgia Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene, with the latter asserting that Biden’s actions represent a disregard for Christian faith.
Adding to the chorus of discontent, reality star Caitlyn Jenner, who publicly came out as a trans woman in 2015, expressed her dismay via social media, emphasizing the significance of Easter Sunday to Christians worldwide and challenging the appropriateness of declaring it as Transgender Day of Visibility.
