Trouble In PDP As Governorship Aspirant, Four Others Get Suspended

Over 2000 APC Supporters Decamp To PDP In Bauchi

The Ogun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was on Monday plunged into deeper crisis following the suspension of a governorship aspirant, Jimi Lawal.

Naija News understands that Jimi Lawal was suspended for participating in an “illegal” governorship primary election. The PDP also suspended are Bola Odunmosun, the financial secretary of the party, Fasiu Ajadi, Kola Akinyemi and Tope Asiru, the party’s chairman of Ijebu Northeast LGA. Their suspension was made known during a press briefing at the party’s secretariat in Abeokuta, the state capital, by the secretary of the party, Sunday Solarin. The party’s scribe stated that the governorship aspirant and the others were suspended for violating the constitution of the party by conducting and participating in an “illegal” governorship primary election which was not authorised by the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party. When contacted by Daily Trust, Lawal’s spokesman, Austin Oniyokor, did not pick up calls put to him, nor did he reply to messages sent to his phone. Naija News reports the Ogun PDP has been in crisis since its governorship primaries. The legitimacy of the Ladi Adebutu governorship ticket is being challenged in the court.
