The details of the abduction of Students in Kaduna.
The news of the abduction of students totalling about 140 from Bethel Secondary School in Marama Local Government Area, Kaduna, in the early hours of yesterday, 5th July 2021, saturated the media yesterday.
It was reported that the gunmen launched a simultaneous action on both Bethel Secondary School and Faith Academy school, both of which are contiguous. But why they were able to succeed in Bethel Secondary School, they were prevented from succeeding in Faith Academy by the soldiers.
Ever since the news broke out, Nigerians have been inquiring to know how the attack was played out.
DeErudite correspondent gathered that the gunmen stormed the school around 1:30am at midnight after breaking the fence. The security personnel on the ground tried to repel them, but their efforts were unsuccessful as they were eventually overpowered. The gunmen then advanced to the Boys’ Hostel which was close to their point of entrance, before heading to the Girls’ Hostel after which they whisked with the students into the bush.
About 140 students were said to be missing. As of yesterday, a Police source revealed that 24 of the students have been rescued. The veracity of this claim is yet to be ascertained.
Consequently, the parents of the abducted students barricaded the main road in protest of their missing children. When some sat in the middle of the road, others held green leaves and vowed to remain there until their children are found. They also blamed the government for failing to protect their children.
It is also gathered that this is the fourth time in 6 months that mass abduction of students and teachers is happening in Kaduna.
