No fewer than 60 lawmakers are advocating for an amendment to the 1999 Constitution to transition Nigeria from a presidential to a parliamentary system of government.
The committee told the officials that the only way the budget could be successfully implemented was to task the Government Owned Enterprises (GOEs) with generating more revenue.
The agency also told the lawmakers that to adopt the proposed roads, ample time is required for the importation of new equipment and training of the manpower

“About 51 healthcare workers have left the hospital since the beginning of 2023 when the committee visited the hospital for an oversight function to assess the level of healthcare delivery in the facility on Tuesday.” He said.
The House moved the sum proposed for the yacht to a student loan, bringing the total sum for the scheme to N10bn up from the initial N5.5bn.
The Ministry of Aviation claimed Nigeria Air was only unveiled and not launched, which the committee dismissed as an attempt to divert the lawmakers’ attention.
These are part of the recommendations contained in the report by the House Ad-Hoc Committee to Investigate the Proposed Domestication and Processing of Nigerian International Passports, which the lawmakers considered and adopted at the plenary on Tuesday.
The amendment was done at an emergency session held by the lawmakers on Sunday.
The lawmaker also denied interference by the Speaker, Femi Gbajabiamila, in the process.
Consequently, the parliament mandated the Clerk to the National Assembly, Sani Tambuwal, to “transmit the bill to the President for his assent in line with the provisions of the Acts Authentication Act.”
Recall that the court had earlier described facts leading to the continued detention of the former deputy Senate president, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, as pathetic and heart-rending.
“The opposition may eventually signpost a directive by the House as a way of resolution to drop the policy after the Wednesday meeting.”
