Prof. Kingsley Moghalu, Young Progressive Party’s standard flag bearer in the 2019 presidential election in Nigeria, has described leadership failure as the major malady afflicting the nation.
The Don, in a press statement released on the 5th June, 2021, stated that unifying Nigeria on the basis of equity, justice and peace is feasible, but has been rendered impossible by incompetent political elite.
De Erudite Media Correspondent reports that Moghalu also pointed out that the constitution of Nigeria, in its present form, is incapable of creating justice, equity, security and economic progress for the country.
He however called on the federal government to ensure that Nnamdi Kanu’s rights are fully respected in the process of hauling him over the court, and also advised the government to look into the root causes of the circumstances that created insurrection, in order to create a veritable environment for the unity and well-being of the nation.
“The current Nigeria challenges are the aftermaths of loopholes in leadership. The country is bedeviled by leadership failure, which requires urgent and proactive actions towards assuaging the ugly situations in the country”.
“For the sake of peace, equity, justice and Fairness, the present constitution of Nigeria cannot adequately serve in the quest for a restructured nation and should be properly amended”.
“The federal government is expected not to breach the fundamental human rights of Nnamdi Kunu in the cause of his continues trial in court. Address the root causes of insurrections in Nigeria for the sake of peace and unity”. Moghalu said
He further urged president Buhari not to address security issues in sectional and lopsided manner, as that will inadvertently herald confrontation between the southern and northern parts of the country.
