Secondus, Wike and the battle for 2023.
As the skirmish between once-upon-a-time allies continue to degenerate into full blown fight, one wonders how much long will this still linger on.
Secondus, Wike and the battle for 2023.
As the skirmish between once-upon-a-time allies continue to degenerate into full blown fight, one wonders how much long will this still linger on.
Wike’s outburst during the recent birthday of the former Cross River Governor, Liyel Imoke, is a clear indicator that what were witnessing is a mere prologue. When called upon to a speech, Wike raided his party chairman with barrage of verbal abuses. Therein he referred to him as an incompetent chairman who had no proven capacity to take the mantle and also called him so many pejorative names!
But all this happened behind Secundus whom had left the venue earlier to catch up with an appointment in supposedly Abuja.
It’s not rocket science to unravel the bone of contention is this altercation. In fact, even the dullest of brains can make a correct guess about that. It’s about 2023 presidential
election!
The truth happens to be that Wike desperately wants to control the party structure and deliver it for his friend and counterpart in Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal who is interested in vying for the presidential seat come 2023.
On the contrary, Uche Secondus, who is very loyal to Atiku, thinks differently. He wants the party structure to be delivered to Atiku for the 2023 presidential election.
This discrepancy in desires prompts Wike to fight bile and blood to ensure Secondus is ousted out as the National Chairman of People’s Democratic Party-PDP.
It is pellucid that Atiku will emerge the PDP presidential candidate should the primary be held soon, but this doesn’t go down well with Wike. However, he seems to be fighting a losing battle.
