Religious leaders berate Obasanjo over comments on Buhari’s administration

The team of clerics under the aegis of National Inter-Faith and Religious Organizations for Peace (NIFROP) urged Nigerians to ignore “prophets of doom” and pray for the country.”

Reacting to a statement credited to the former Nigerian president, NIFROP’s national coordinator, Sunday Garba, charged Nigerians to shun end-time preachers of doom.

Garba called on all citizens to focus their energy on embracing peace and unity which would drive the expected development across the country.

The leadership of an inter-faith group has called on Nigerians across the country to shun the remarks made by former president Olusegun Obasanjo.

The team of clerics under the aegis of National Inter-Faith and Religious Organizations for Peace (NIFROP) urged Nigerians to ignore “prophets of doom” and pray for the country.”

Reacting to a statement credited to the former Nigerian president, NIFROP’s national coordinator, Sunday Garba, charged Nigerians to shun end-time preachers of doom.

Garba called on all citizens to focus their energy on embracing peace and unity which would drive the expected development across the country.

He also noted that the bulk of the challenges in the country are a product of the failures of past successive governments with Obasanjo inclusive.  

The cleric also advised Nigerians to extend their support to the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration in its efforts to address the various economic and security challenges in the country. 

Garba said: “We are also using this medium to task the true patriots in Nigeria irrespective of religion or ethnicity to rise for Nigeria at all times and shun divisive tendencies.”

The religious group said that Obasanjo’s attack on President Buhari’s administration is divisive.

The group said in the fullness of time, the promoters of evil and violence in Nigeria would be exposed and put to shame. 

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that the presidency on Sunday, September 13, condemned the attack on the president by Obasanjo.

The presidency in a statement released by Garba Shehu, a spokesperson to President Buhari said Obasanjo remarks are capable of dividing the nation.
